After studying and graduating from musicology studies, obtaining his Master’s degree at the Centre d’Etudes Supérieures de la Renaissance in Tours in the class of Jean Pierre Ouvrard and DFE in saxophone, the artist moved on to win the first prize in Alain Buet’s vocal class. Currently the artist collaborates with Sophie Toussaint.
Hugues Primard sings with many ensembles, including Doulce Mémoire, Le Poème Harmonique and Diabolus in Musica. He also worked with La Chapelle Royale, RIAS Kammerchor, Les Talens Lyriques, Accentus, Les Jeunes Solistes, Les Eléments, Jacques Moderne, Namur chamber choir, Akadémia, Les Musiciens du Paradis, Ensemble Elyma.
These various ensembles and groups allowed him to try his skills in a wide variety of works, starting from pieces created in the Middle Ages to contemporary music, including the roles of evangelists, Renaissance farces, collaboration with circus artists or Ircam researchers. Among his recent performances are La Dive Bouteille and L’Honnête Courtisane with Doulce Mémoire as well as Le Carnaval Baroque with Le Poème Harmonique. The artist also took part in the recording of around 50 albums.
