Recognised for her musicality and rich vocal timbre, Victoire Bunel was the highest-ranked student upon admission to the Conservatoire de Paris (CNSMDP) in 2013, where she now studies in the class of Valérie Guillorit.
She started her musical education at the age of 8 with piano lessons, and later she joined the Nadia and Lili Boulanger municipal conservatory, where she studied for two years under Claire Marchand and Christine Morel. Bunel has sung with Maîtrise de Radio France – the French Radio youth choir, receiving a first-class musical and vocal education under the direction of Toni Ramon. Her years of choral singing were crucial for her artistic development.
Later she went to study at the Paris Conservatoire à rayonnement régional Département Supérieur pour Jeunes Chanteurs, where she gained her diploma in music, with distinction. Bunel also graduated from the Sorbonne in 2009 with a degree in musicology.
The young mezzosopranist is interested in a broad repertoire, as she performs songs and art songs accompanied by piano (collaborating wamong the others with Philippe Biros), as well as with orchestras and ensembles in Baroque repertoire.
Her love to the art of acting led her also to opera. During her stay in Royaumont in 2012 she debuted on the opera stage as Abel in Scarlatti’s Cain under the baton of Stéphan Fuget. In 2013 she sung Valetto in Monteverdi’s L’Incoronazione di Poppea in Paris, and recently she has performed in Vincent Vittoz’s Les 10 minutes. Her concert at the Deauville Festival with Escadron Volant de la Reine, Ensemble Desmarest and Julien Chauvin was broadcast by France Musique in April.
